João Guedes Makes The Cut To The Capitulo Perfeito Powered by Billabong 2025

CASCAIS (January 13, 2025) – The 11th annual Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong voting period ended this Saturday 11th, leading up to local star João Guedes securing his spot as a final contender to the “one-day, one-swell” tube-riding contest taking place at Carcavelos Beach, Portugal, within a 2-month holding period.

Surf fans around the world were called out to vote for their favorite tuberider from a list of seven Portuguese surfers, with Guedes topping his fellow countrymen Guilherme Fonseca, Martim Carrasco, Martim Fortes, Guilherme Ribeiro, António Cardoso e Luís Perloiro. They all remain linked to the event as alternates and may be called on to compete in case any local surfer attending the competition makes a last-minute withdrawal.

By winning the fan poll taking place at www.capituloperfeito.com, Guedes made the cut to an all-star tube duel on the best day of the European Winter, chasing spitting barrels and a 50.000 EUR global prize money. As always, this year’s Surfers List is a combination of world-class wave specialists and Portuguese tube-riding wizards, namely, Aritz Aranburu, Balaram Stack, Bruno Santos, Clay Marzo, Craig Anderson, João Maria Mendonça, Miguel Blanco, Nic von Rupp, Noa Deane, Noah Beschen, Pedro Boonman and Rob Machado.

The stellar lineup will be joined by the reigning champion Tiago Stock and a TBA home-grown Carcavelos surfer coming out of the Trials, which are taking place within the main event’s holding period. The final slot, dubbed the “Performance Wildcard”, will be a last-minute appointment by the contest directors, adding a touch of suspense to the most exciting event of the year.
