Capitulo Perfeito calls it on for Wednesday, September 9, at Desert Point 

Indonesia, September 6, 2026 – The call is on for the Indonesian edition of Capitulo Perfeito, running this Wednesday, September 9, at Desert Point, Lombok. It will be the first surf event ever held at this wave, one of the longest and most barreling lefts on the planet. 

Forecasts point to a 2-metre swell with long period and offshore wind, exactly the setup Desert Point demands to open up its bigger, faster sections. First call is set for 7:00 AM local time (UTC+8). 

Rui Costa, founder of Capitulo Perfeito, says: “The forecast we have for Wednesday is what we’ve been looking for since the waiting period opened. A day like this is exactly why we came here, to one of the most iconic waves in the world, where no one had ever run an event of this scale. Bringing Capitulo Perfeito to Lombok is living proof that the concept has established itself and is growing. All that’s left is to wish every surfer good luck and let history write itself.” 

Line-up & Format for Desert Point 

The line-up brings together four surfers qualified through the main event, two local talents and two international wildcards. 

The top four from Carcavelos earned direct entry into Lombok: Balaram Stack, Cam Richards, Pedro Calado and Nic von Rupp (the latter replacing Noah Beschen, who is unable to travel to Lombok due to professional commitments). Indonesia is represented by local wildcards Sulaiman and Usman Trioko, surfers who know Desert Point’s sections better than anyone and who will surf their home break in front of a global audience. The two international wildcards are Brazilian Bruno Santos, a past Capitulo Perfeito winner in Carcavelos, and Hawaiian Makana Pang, a first-timer in the event’s history. 

In Lombok, the eight surfers face off across three stages. Round 1 and Round 2 are both non-elimination: the eight invitees are split into two heats of four, and every surfer participates in both rounds regardless of the first-round outcome. The four highest-scoring surfers advance straight to the Final. All heats run 45 minutes. At stake is a wildcard with direct entry into Capitulo Perfeito 2027, in Carcavelos.  

The event will open with a Local Heat featuring a premium cluster from Lombok: Awan, Hendra, Rusdi, Fajrul, Ilham, Budi, Darmawan and Ziggy. 

One day, eight surfers, and one of the best lefts on the planet firing at its full potential. No perfect waves, no Capitulo Perfeito. In Lombok, they’re on their way.
