Capítulo Perfeito powered by Billabong: Performance Wildcard and Replacements Announced

CASCAIS (February 21, 2025) – After confirming the call for the 11th annual Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong two days ago, contest directors have recently announced the Performance Wildcard, disclosing the mystery contender who will take the final slot in the heat draw. 

Former world champion Joel Parkinson got the last-ditch appointment and will be joining the stellar lineup for the tube fest going down at Carcavelos Beach on Saturday (22 February), unanimously fitting the profile the event organizers were after: a renowned and talented surfer capable of keeping his opponents on their toes in heavy tubes and wowing the crowd with his world-class barrel riding skills. 

Cam Richards, Victor Bernardo, Pedro Calado, Lucas Chianca and Guilherme Fonseca also made last-minute entrances as replacements for Aritz Aranburu, Noa Dean, Clay Marzo, Rob Machado and João Maria Mendonça, who are unable to attend the competition due to logistical constraints. 

Balaram Stack, Bruno Santos, Craig Anderson, João Guedes, Miguel Blanco, Nic von Rupp, Noah Beschen, Pedro Boonman, Santiago Graça, and Tiago Stock complete the list of first-rate wave specialists getting some action in Europe’s most prestigious tuberiding contest. 

This year there’s a 50.000 EUR global prize money on the table plus a 2500 EUR check for best tube powered by Electrikfatbike. In addition, the Ricardo dos Santos Special Trophy is honoring the most committed contender according to tube riding virtuosity and raw courage criteria. 

As a side event to the main competition, a Special Women Heat is scheduled to take place between the semis and the final, headed by Portuguese rising stars Yolanda Hopkins and Camila Cardoso. Maria Salgado and Gabriela Dinis wrap up the female lineup as replacements for Francisca Veselko and Mafalda Lopes, who are currently competing in a qualifying event in Morocco. The winner will be awarded with a 10-day

stay in the Mentawai aboard one of the luxurious Sibon Charters, plus 500 EUR checks from Globalis and MP Clinic.
