Capítulo Perfeito powered by Billabong: Santiago Graça wins Trials

CASCAIS (January 16, 2025) – The Trials event for the 11th annual Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong took place today in pumping conditions at Carcavelos Beach, Portugal. Local surfer Santiago Graça “Santi” claimed the top honors in the final to qualify for the main event.

It was an exciting event for all trialists with a healthy dose of Atlantic Ocean swell serving 6-feet set waves throughout the day. With an electrifying performance that saw him score over 10 waves in a one-hour-long final heat, Santi secured the local wildcard after overcoming his home mates João Kopke (2^nd), Francisco Mittermayer (3^rd) and João Moreira (4^th).

Having proved he can perform at the highest level, Santi will be a threat in the main event where his combination of local knowledge and natural barreling expertise will no doubt come in handy against the 14 other men already confirmed in the lineup: Aritz Aranburu,  Balaram Stack, Bruno Santos, Clay Marzo, Craig Anderson, João Guedes, João Maria Mendonça, Miguel Blanco, Nic von Rupp, Noa Deane, Noah Beschen, Pedro Boonman, Rob Machado and Tiago Stock.

Completing the Heat Draw, a last-minute “Performance Wildcard” will be addressed to one of the most prominent tuberiders of the season around the world.

As of today, the stellar contingent is on call for when contest directors determine an ideal swell lining up in the Atlantic Ocean, providing the event with the highest chances of scoring the heavy spitting barrels Carcavelos is world-famous for.
