Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong: Jackson Dorian Takes Wildcard to the Mentawai Tuberiding Competition

CASCAIS (August 26, 2024) – The organization of Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong has just announced the mystery wildcard for the tuberiding competition that is leading some of Portugal’s young surfing prospects to the Mentawai Islands, in Indonesia.

Following a post on Capitulo Perfeito’s Instagram account (@capitulo_perfeito) advertising one last contender to be announced soon, the event’s organization finally revealed today that Hawaiian Jackson Dorian, the son of Shane Dorian and godson of Kelly Slater, will be joining the Portuguese squad for the special event running from August 27th to September 3rd.

Dorian, who’s been in the Mentawai Islands for the past few days accommodated at Kandui Villas, will join the other competitors at the nearby Hiddenbay Resort (www.hiddenbayresortmentawais.com), one of the best-rated resorts in the Playground area and the event’s official headquarter. In addition to the Hawaiian young start, the event is bringing together the Portuguese surfers listed on the 2024 Capitulo Perfeito powered by Billabong New Generation category – Salvador Vala, Jaime Veselko, Martim Fortes, Salvador Catarino and Simão Prazeres – as well as Frenchman Inigo Madina (as a replacement for Matias Canhoto), Australian Sid Englert (Tracks magazine appointee), and local surfer Joaquin At-Thariq.

The young contenders will be spending most of their time at Kandui, Rifles, Hideway and Bankvauts, among some other secret spots very well known to the resort’s staff, with surf fans around the world having the opportunity to vote for the best tubes of the trip on social media.

Throughout the week, every surf session will be filmed from multiple angles with all young surfers posting their personal favorite barrels to Capitulo Perfeito’s Instagramaccount at the end of each day, setting the best daily performances up to vote by the international surfing community.

Simultaneously, each surfer’s three best waves will be daily judged and scored by a jury featuring Capitulo Perfeito organizers, a reporter from Tracks, former Capitulo Perfeito champ Anthony Walsh, and Hiddenbay Resort’s ambassador Vinicius Pereira (cousin of the late Ricardo dos Santos). Finally, the young surfers themselves will be weighing in on who among them was the standout of each day.

At the end of the trip, the community’s preferences combined with the surfers’ picks and the jury’s deliberations will set up the winner. Follow all the action on Instagram and join the global efforts to determine who the best tuberider is going to be!
