Aritz vs Nic: who will be the first three-time champion in the history of the Perfect Chapter?

CASCAIS (January 13, 2023) – 2023 is the year when we may find the first three-time champion in the history of the Perfect Chapter powered by Billabong. And to mark the special occasion, the event’s organization is awarding whoever that may be with a special trophy.

Once the competition gets greenlighted, all eyes are going to be on the only two surfers in condition to secure a third tittle: Aritz Aranburu and Nic von Rupp. Winner in 2016 (Praia do Norte) and 2022 (Carcavelos), Aritz is lining up as the defending champion against a pumped up Nic von Rupp, who won the Perfect Chapter twice in a row in 2013 and 2014 (Carcavelos).

Being the only two surfers with two wins in the history of the event, Artiz and Nic will give their hearts and souls to win a third time and secure the unprecedented award – on top of a 2000€ check by Madpizza. It wouldn’t be unadvised to say this may become the most sought-after trophy in the scope of this special event

The 9th annual Perfect Chapter powered by Billabong waiting period extends until March 9th. Adrian Buchan (AUS), Adriano de Souza (BRA), Balaram Stack (USA), Bruno Santos (BRA), Clay Marzo (HAV), João Maria Mendonça (PRT), Michael February (ZA), Miguel Blanco (PRT), Nathan Hedge (AUS), Pedro Boonman (PRT), Salvador Vala (PRT), Tiago Pires (PRT) and Torrey Meister (HAV) complete the 2023 Surfers List.

One final wildcard will be assigned via Trials, which are taking place within the main event’s waiting period seeking to lock in the participation of a local surfer from Carcavelos.
